ENGINEERING FOR QUALITY
Metals are the lifeblood of our industry. Knowing how they cast and machine…how they perform in the finished product…is critical to the quality of our work. To enhance this knowledge, our in-house testing laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, and is staffed with metallurgical engineers and casting technicians who are deeply committed to molding metals technology with process technology. The information generated in the laboratory enables us to select the precise casting procedure for each project and to anticipate future customer needs. We regularly conduct sophisticated analyses on every ladle of iron poured. This data enables us to fine-tune each process to assure optimum results and the highest level of quality throughout the run.
FLEXIBILITY
There are three crucial variables in each casting project: metal composition, sand composition, and technician experience. Motor Castings adjusts the first two based on the applied skills of the third. For many assignments, green sand molds are used. When greater mold strength is demanded, chemically bonded sand is specified. The proprietary knowledge we’ve accumulated over the decades enables us to select and test the ideal process for your product.
The same principles apply in metals specification. We have recorded broad but detailed metallurgical experiences with gray and ductile irons, compacted graphite iron, ductile niresist and other alloyed irons. Each job suggests different options. In every assignment, having the flexibility to alter sand or alloy composition — and the experience to predict the outcome of these alterations — gives Motor Castings’ customers a decided edge in product design and cost containment.
DESIGN FOLLOWS FUNCTION
The overwhelming majority of our customers have their own in-house engineering staffs. Our designers can assist your engineers in developing a foundry producible casting. This is of great importance on prototype assignments and experimental work. Frequently, at the early stages of a project, our staff can provide vital information to correct a condition before it occurs. Minor alterations at the drawing board can reduce pattern or tooling costs.
At Motor Castings, our cost reduction procedures are based on better design and state-of-the-art process applications. Working in collaboration with your engineers, our design experience gives you still another distinct advantage over less qualified casting suppliers.
NATIONWIDE SUPPORT SYSTEM
We produce a variety of complex products. Each one requires special handling and special process controls. In support of our belief in continuous improvement, the commitment to total quality is ongoing. It does not terminate on delivery. That would be a disservice to our customers and our reputation. Instead, through a nationwide network of sales and service centers, we extend our professional attitude right to your doorstep. We’ll help re-evaluate existing needs, and refine future casting requirements. In short, Motor Castings Company offers you full project management…we’re your straight line to production. Whatever your needs, we’re here to help. Call us for a prompt, professional response.
